Did you have fun? Interaction! :D

*punas ilong*

Anyway, we had an early lunch (11:00 a.m. to be exact) to give us a headstart in preparing the AVR for the gathering. Everyone was so busy; excluding myself because there was absolutely nothing for me to do. The AVR didn't really look so masquerade-y even though they pasted, no wait, taped small masks on the walls of the AVR. Still, the venue didn't really matter for me, as long as we would be able to carry out the activity properly. The performers took turns in practicing. The band was going to play the song "Accidentally in Love" (blech, did you guys really pick that song? cheeeesy :P agel did a great job though). The dancers were totally prepared, and it was my first time to see the whole dance. Gemma is a good dancer pala :)) and so is Milaine :)

Okay, fast forward---- STOP.

"They're here!". The noise was supressed by total silence as the boys started entering the room. I tried hard not to laugh as I was surveying the looks on the faces of my classmates.

We started with the opening prayer lead by yours truly and then the presidents of both classes each gave their welcome address. Our emcees were Kahlil and Tommy.

The first activity was to find your partner. Actually, what they did was ask each pair (or trio) to go in front and meet their partner/s and then afterwards settle down on their own seats. I sat down with my partner (Carlo a.k.a. "Tuytuy"), and he asked me something about my classmate, blah blah blah. Tina came along with us because her partner, Anton, was absent (what a loss, di ba niya alam kung gaano kaganda sana magiging ka-partner niya?!). The three of us got along pretty quickly.

TOINK!

Anyway, the second activity was called "Human Bingo". We were each given a sheet of paper resembling a bingo card (parang hindi nga bingo card eh hehehehe). The task was to look for a person of the opposite gender who matched the description written on the paper. Four blocks were unsigned. Maraming nagpa-sign sakin sa block na left-handed tsaka can draw very well. Yung pinakamahirap hanapan sa guys yung Bookworm, Vain, tsaka yung marunong magluto! Chia was the first one to complete the bingo card.

We met four new guys, Noel, Miguel, Raph and Ken. They were okay. ehem paula. ehem tina. Agel was so hyperactive! :D

Okay, what happened next? Wait... Oh yeah! Performance na ba agad? Haha ang bilis ng mga pangyayari :D

Soooo, kumanta na classmates ko nung "Accidentally in Love". (I still think it's cheesy. :P sarap sawsawan ng nachos. corny) Agel was really good. yihee :) haha. Tumugtog rin ang boys from 2E. Gem was the vocalist. Nice voice hehehe :) Dance presentations followed afterwards. Galing ni partner sumayaw, anbilibabol!! :D haha

Tapos, kainan na. Wala naman masyadong nangyari. I just stared at my burger because I didn't want to eat.

Awarding na ata after eh. I really can't remember haha.

Okay, exchange of graffiti boards tapos exchange of tokens na. Tapos we were given a few minutes to exchange contact info w/ our partners. Class pic taking na. Ang kulit ng mga tao hahaha.

Time for the boys to go, late na rin sila nakauwi, malapit na mag-4:30 ata. hehe :D Maraming nabitin sa interaction pero kahit na ganun, masaya pa rin naman ang kinalabasan.

Sa uulitin. :D

Interaction (III-Kagitingan and 2E) distortion and blurry images galore! :D

November 29, 2007 - INTERACTION
>it's 2:00 am and i still can't sleep.
>i decided to post these pictures to get it off my list of things to do.
>tina! :D haha wala lang heto na pics mo :D

>the guys of class 2E were really nice. They're easy to get along with; just like our (Tina and I) partner, Carlo, who was very VERY loquacious and funny.

>don't you guys want to have a soiree with 'em? :D just a suggestion!

MUSIC NOTES!!!

I. SUMMARY OF MUSICAL CHARACTERISTICS of the PRE-BAROQUE

SACRED

  • Plainsong
  • Monophonic
  • Modal (based on the church modes)
  • Normally a cappella (Extended melisma that follow the verse of the alleluia in the mass, which were, at the outset, in prose rather than a poetic meter)
  • Limited range
  • Sung in Latin
  • Uses a special pneumatic notation (Indicated the approximate line of a melody and thus serve as an aid to the memory)
  • Largest and oldest genre of Christian music

SECULAR

  • Monophonic (may have included some improvised instrumental accompaniment)
  • Metrical (mostly in triple meter)
  • Stronger, more regular rhythm than plainsong
  • Used short recurrent rhythmic patterns
  • Clear phrase and sectional structure with repeated sections and refrains
  • Modal (favored Aeolian and Ionian)
  • Syllabic (Characterized by the singing of only one note for each syllable)
  • In the Vernacular (The common language of the region)
  • Wider range of subjects than plainsong
  • Found mostly in France and Germany

II. RENAISSANCE (15th and 16th Centuries)

  • age of enlightenment, ideals of the Greek classics
  • extreme refinement of vocal polyphony
  • use of church modes
  • instruments (viols) used to replace some of the vocal parts
  • use of the lute as spare accompaniment for Madrigals
  • flourishing of sacred music and the beginnings of the standardization of secular music
  • secular "rebirth" for men which began in Italy
  • polyphonic music arose
  • musical forms included the motet (choral work with sacred words performed on religious or festive occasions) and the madrigal (a secular vocal composition)
  • music was spacious, elegant, but sensitively designed with careful regard for form
  • Martin Luther developed the chorale (simple hymn tune with words in the language of the people; used short phrases; steady rhythm, stately tempo, and singable melodies; performed in unison or with organ accompaniment, with dignity and deep religious feeling)
